About the Founder

Dr. Allswell Eno

FOUNDER OF THE BLACK OF RESPECT CAMPAIGN

As well as being the senior partner in a busy medical practice in London, England, Dr Eno is a vigorous campaigner on the subject of racial terminology and equality in relation to people of African heritage around the world - the African diaspora. During his junior doctor days in hospital medicine in the early 1990s he first raised the issue of ‘black’ being a misnomer in reference to people of African heritage but put this aside as he focused on climbing through the ranks of the medical profession.

He raised the issue again in earnest in 2008 as a challenge to the guidelines on high blood pressure treatment that were then in circulation in the UK’s National Health Service. In 2011 he founded the ‘bLack of Respect campaign' (BORC) which rightly takes the issue beyond the medical profession because the problem is historical and societal, not just medical.
